Optomap Retinal Exam

The Optomap Retinal Exam is a comprehensive way of examining the condition of one’s eyes and overall health. It not only eliminates the need to dilate patients’ eyes in most cases, but also detects and predicts diseases including eye disease, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, and cancer. Optomap technology takes an instant, 200° photographic scan of the eye, which allows the doctor to show and explain what they examine in patients.

We recommend that every person, regardless of age or current health status, receive yearly Optomap Retinal Exams.

How can Optomap Benefit Me?

Some of the first signs of disease (i.e., stroke, diabetes, and even some cancers) can be seen in the retina, often before other symptoms develop. Optomap has an ultra-wide field, which will help us detect problems more quickly and easily. Unlike traditional retinal exams, the Optomap image can be used for future comparisons.

Is Optomap Safe?

Yes, it is safe for children and adults. In fact, many vision problems begin in early childhood, so it is vital for children to receive quality routine eye care. Non-invasive, low-intensity scanning lasers create Optomap’s images. No adverse health effects have been reported in over 65 million sessions.

Does Optomap Retinal Exams Hurt?

No, the exams are entirely comfortable, and the scan takes less than a second.
